Man runs from police after break-in attempt in Kamloops

A man was arrested after he ran from police following a break-in attempt in Kamloops.

Kamloops RCMP were called to a building in the 200-block of Clapperton Road around 1:55 a.m. today,  April 1, according to a press release from police.

A man attempted to get into the building and when police arrived they found a suspect nearby.

Police told him he was under arrest but he decided to run.

The suspect allegedly ran towards Leigh Road where another officer found him and tried to arrest him.

A foot chase ensued, the suspect yelled for help and resisted arrest. During the arrest he ended up injuring the officer.

More officers arrived on the scene quickly and helped take the man into custody. He was assessed by the Integrated Crisis Response Team and then released with a court date and conditions.

Police expect charge recommendations as part of the assessment and approval process.
