Two arrested after targeted shooting in broad daylight in Sicamous

Police are still on the case after a targeted shooting in Sicamous on Sunday led to two arrests.

Sicamous RCMP responded to a report about shots fired near a condo building in the 300-block of Lara Lane at 4 p.m. on April 6, according to a press release from police.

When officers arrived on the scene they spoke with witnesses who said they saw suspects leaving in a white SUV before police got there.

Police determined that the target was a Sicamous man who is known to police. The man had fled the scene in another vehicle and police tracked him down.

The target’s truck had multiple bullet holes in it and police seized it as part of the investigation.

Neighbouring RCMP detachments were told to look out for the white SUV and eventually Salmon Arm RCMP attempted to stop a white SUV approaching Canoe from the east.

The SUV didn’t stop for police and was found abandoned near the Trans-Canada Highway in Canoe.

Police dog services and the Emergency Response Team searched the area for two suspects.

Both suspects were found and arrested in a residential area in Canoe after police dog services tracked them down.

“A shooting in a residential area during midday is alarming; however, this was an isolated targeted incident with both suspects in police custody,” Sgt. Murray MacNeil said in the release.
