New Predator Ridge firehall up and running

VERNON – Construction of the new firehall at Predator Ridge is complete, it's staffed and its truck is ready to roll.

The City of Vernon first approved the project in the 2011-2015 Financial Plan. The 999 year lease agreement for the project's land was secured by the city of Vernon for $10 in March 2014 from the owner, construction company Pasechnik S J & Son Ltd. Construction started on May 2014 and the city announced today, Jan. 16, the new hall is up and running complete with a fire truck, Engine 3.

“The new hall is a tremendous public safety asset for Predator Ridge and Vernon as a whole,” Vernon Fire Rescue chief Keith Green said in a media release.

The city notes the project was completed on time and within the allocated $600,000 budget. As well, the hall, designated Station 3, will be integrated into the current deployment model while Computer Aided Dispatch mapping is currently being updated to meet response protocols.

A public grand opening is planned for later this year.
