Vernon man wins big on Super Bowl lottery
A Vernon man has picked up almost $85,000 after winning the BC 50/50 Super Bowl Super Jackpot.
According to a BC Lottery Corporation media release, Vernon resident Shawn Blackmore won $84,884.50 on Sunday, Feb. 2. He purchased the winning ticket at a Super Save Gas on 25 Avenue.
"I was on the BCLC website and noticed that someone from Vernon had won," Blackmore said in the release. "I didn’t check my ticket right away. I finally checked the ticket on my lotto app and I was shocked."
Blackmore, who is a long-time BC 50/50 player, told his wife first about their new fortune.
"She thought I was joking but started to scream."
