Unoccupied Kelowna home seriously damaged in fire

A house being renovated in the 900 block of Kelowna's Barnaby Road was damaged in an early morning fire.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. Feb. 12, Kelowna Fire Department responded to a report of a residential home on fire with 18 staff members arriving on four trucks.

Once there, Platoon Capt. Jarret Dais said in a press release, found a two-storey residential home "fully involved with flames."

"It was deemed a defensive fire and multiple water streams were deployed from the exterior to extinguish fire," Dais said.

"No occupants were home at the time of the fire and the home was undergoing extensive renovations."

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
