KAMLOOPS – There wasn’t much left of Volkswagen parked in the driveway of a known North Shore drug house after a fire Saturday morning.
Fire crews quickly put out the blaze at MacKenzie Avenue and Poplar Street.
While the cause of the fire is listed as undetermined, assistant fire chief Mike Adams says he didn’t get any indication from the RCMP officers at the scene that the fire was suspicious in nature.
“Our fire inspectors will have a look at it on Monday when they’re back in the office,” Adams says.
Both the RCMP and a bylaw officer from the City of Kamloops attended.
Corp. Nick Lee says the police will work with the fire investigators but at this point there are no suspects and no evidence recovered from the fire.
The house on the property has been vacant since late October when a fire damaged half the building. It didn’t suffer any further damage when the car went up in flames, but a nearby shed and fence did get scorched.
