Police seek answers in possible gun threat

VERNON – A puzzling scene involving a group of men and a tight-lipped victim has police probing further into the incident.

Late Sunday, around 10:25 p.m., police received a call that a group of men had entered a home in the 3700 block of Commonage Crescent with a gun.

“The caller told police that people were seen running out of the residence,” RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said Monday.

A police officer attended the home and spoke to the residents. It was learned that the person being targeted, a 28-year-old Vernon man who was bear sprayed in the incident, is known to police.

“It appears that this is not a random act. All parties involved in this incident appear to know to each other,” Molendyk said.

The victim provided an audio statement but did not give up any helpful information.

“The individual is not participating very well with the police at this time,” Molendyk said.

Bear spray and other items were seized from the home, but police were unable to confirm whether there had been a gun involved.
