20 cm of snow falls on Coquihalla, more expected

If you will be driving on the Coquihalla today you should be prepared for winter conditions.

In the last 24 hours, 20 centimetres have already fallen on Highway 5, from Hope to Merritt, and a further two to four cm is expected this morning.

"An unstable airmass continues to produce heavy flurries over parts of the southern Highway passes this morning. The flurries will ease this morning as a ridge of high pressure develops over the province," Environment Canada said in a press release.

"Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow."

Road conditions are available at www.drivebc.ca.

Yesterday, as snow fell, conditions proved challenging to motorists prompting DriveBC to remind motorists that it's still winter and the appropriate tires are required.
