Southern Interior bucks national trend with warmer than normal spring forecast

The signs of an early spring are upon us, and the latest spring forecast by the Weather Network is feeding that optimism.

Weather Network meteorologist Michael Carter says we’re coming out of a pretty easygoing winter and moving toward a spring that is “mostly positive.”

“There were some bouts of snow and cold, but also some milder periods this winter," Carter says.

He says spring starts on March 1 in the weather business.

"We might get a slow start to spring in Kamloops and the Okanagan, with some lingering cooler temperatures off and on into March, but overall, spring is expected to trend warmer than normal.”

Precipitation is expected to be near normal for the period.

“B.C. is a great place to be in terms of the March forecast, with a lot of the country expecting normal or slightly below normal temperatures, the southern Interior of B.C. is expected to see a Pacific influence dominate spring weather patterns," Carter says.
