Vandalism suspect sought by Penticton RCMP

Penticton RCMP are seeking the public's assistance to identify a suspect in connection with a window smashing incident at a building on Winnipeg Street on Saturday.

A lone man was caught on video surveillance and may have been responsible for smashing windows at a business located at 501 Winnipeg St. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at around 12:15 a.m., according to an RCMP media release.

An alarm to the building was triggered after the windows were smashed, alerting the property owner and police, who responded.

A loud bang could be heard on the video along with a man yelling in the background.

RCMP described the suspect is as 5'11" tall. He was wearing a navy blue jersey with the number 96 printed on the back, white runners, baggy jeans and a dark coloured toque.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300, and quote file number 2020-2827.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.

As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
