Kelowna Toyota attempting to break world record

A Kelowna dealership is attempting to break a world record and needs a few extra pairs of helping hands.

Kelowna Toyota is currently trying to beat a record today, March 7, for most stickers placed on a car. The event kicked off this morning, and will continue until 5 p.m.

The event is also fundraising for Kelowna and West Kelowna fire departments' charitable societies. Firefighters are on scene at the dealership, helping to beat the record by placing stickers on a shiny white car. The goal is also to raise $10,000.

To break the record, the dealership needs more than 41,454 stickers, according to its Facebook post.

"It's a fantastic opportunity to get some support for our charitable society," said Kelowna fire chief Travis Whiting.

"So come down and help us put some stickers on a car… or just hang out and drop off a donation," according to Kelowna Toyota in a Facebook post.

It's not the first time a world record has been attempted in the Okanagan.

In 2013, Penticton residents attempted to break a record for the most high fives.

Thousands turned out for the high-five world record attempt at the South Okanagan Event Centre.
