
UPDATE: Highway 12 reopens following second rock slide
LYTTON – Highway 12 has reopened after being closed for the second time in as many days because of a rock slide.
Less than eight hours after Highway 12 reopened following the removal of a large boulder on the highway, it was once again closed in both directions between Lillooet and Lytton because of a rock slide overnight.
Drive B.C. reported that as of Monday evening the highway was once again closed in both directions, this time 15 kilometres south of the junction with Highway 99. The highway reopend around 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Highway 1 is also reduced to alternating single lane traffic 17 km east of Spences Bridge because of a rock slide.
Explosives were used to help remove the seven-foot by seven-foot boulder from Highway 12 Monday afternon.
