Police are asking for public assistance in finding the owner of a large coil of heavy gauge wire that was found in the backyard of a Kamloops resident, 5:15 p.m. Nov 17.
"Investigators believe the wire was likely stolen from a construction site," said RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned. "Copper wire thefts continue to be one of the bigger thefts around the province.”
Learned said RCMP believe the wire was stashed in the backyard at the Carmel Court residence.
"This is a fairly heavy gauged construction wire," he said. "They would steal it for the value."
Records failed to match the goods to any local reports of stolen wire.
Learned said the wire has characteristics and markings that would be identifiable to the owner.
Anyone with information can call the Kamloops detachment at 250-828-3000.
