THOMPSON-OKANAGAN — An 85-year-old passenger died after the vehicle she was in collided with a forestry chip truck on the Coquihalla Highway near the Mine Creek Road exit on Wednesday morning.
The B.C. Coroners Service has identified the woman as Gayle Alverna Ashforth of Calgary, Alta. She was the front seat passenger in the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene of the Jan. 8 collision.
Roads were icy at the time and the southbound lanes were closed for several hours following the collision. RCMP Traffic Services continues to investigate the collision.
