Double-digit temperatures on the way

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – It’s nearly the end of January, a time of year when winter can rear its ugly head. Luckily for us Mother Nature has decided to tame Old Man Winter for at least a little while and we can expect temperatures to reach the double-digits across the region.

Temperatures will be close to seasonal normals of 0 Celsius for the next few days. On the weekend temperatures will start to climb and by Sunday we could be seeing double-digit temperatures, according to Environment Canada.

Kamloops has a 60 per cent chance of flurries on Thursday and a 30 per cent chance of rain, along with a high of 6 C on Saturday. By Sunday we are expected to see highs reach 13 C.

In the Okanagan there is a 30 per cent chance of flurries on Thursday and a 60 per cent chance on Friday. By Saturday temperatures will reach 4 C and there is a 60 per cent chance of snow or rain. Sunday is expected to reach 10 C.

As of this morning, Wednesday, Jan. 21, Avalanche Canada has assessed the avalanche risk through the area as moderate to considerable and Drive B.C. is reporting slippery sections on many Interior highways.
