Police find elderly woman who mistakenly drove from Richmond, B.C., to Kamloops

RICHMOND, B.C. – Police say a missing elderly woman from Richmond, B.C., has been located alive and well hundreds of kilometres from her home.

RCMP said late Tuesday that 89-year-old Evelyn Logan had turned up in the Kamloops area after mistakenly driving the wrong direction.

Staff Sgt. Don Davidson says the woman suffers from a mild form of dementia and she has accidentally driven long distances in the past.

Kamloops is about 360 kilometres from the city south of Vancouver, which could take more than three-and-a-half hours to drive with no traffic.

Police say the woman left her residence on Tuesday afternoon.

Davidson says the woman's family has headed to Kamloops to reunite.

  3. I’m glad she has been found safe and sound but seriously? She is 89 years old with Dementia and has done this kind of thing before and NO ONE thought to take her car/licence away from her? Thankfully this time there is a happy ending.
