COVID-19 impacts some Okanagan newspapers

Black Press Interior newspapers are now publishing only once a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Effective immediately, we are having to make the temporary decision to publish the Vernon Morning Star, Kelowna Capital News, Penticton Western News once per week as opposed to twice per week,” according to an email sent to Capital News paper carriers.

“It is a decision that is being made temporarily so as to position our newspapers to be able to continue publishing right through until the pandemic is over, and beyond.”

The email asks carriers to maintain social distance, wear gloves and to avoid touching surfaces like mailboxes.

The Capital News building at 2495 Enterprise Way was sold in July 2019 for $5 million, according to B.C. Assessment.

The Capital News was not immediately available for comment.
