Oliver correctional facility construction expected this spring

OLIVER – Deciding who will build the Okanagan Correctional Centre wasn't easy, but a selection has been made and the first shovel will soon pierce the earth.

Plenary Justice was chosen to work with the B.C. Government to build the state-of-the-art facility starting this spring, shortly after the agreement is finalized.

Three teams were evaluated based on proposals submitted to design, build and partially finance and provide facility management services for the new centre. Final negotions with Plenary Justice include signing of a fixed price, performance-based agreement. Details of the agreement will then be made public.

Local contractors and job seekers will have the opportunity to work on the project, presenting their companies, services and credentials at a Business-to-Business networking session in Oliver, January 30.

The B2B networking session is being hosted by the OCC project team, which includes representatives from BC Corrections and Partnerships BC, in collaboration with the South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce and the Southern Interior Construction Association.
