iN VIDEO: How to properly clean and disinfect surfaces from COVID-19

You're stuck at home, trying your best to clean and disinfect, but are you doing it right?

We asked Kendra McFarland, owner of Vibrant Okanagan Concierge and Cleaning if she had any tips for cleaning and disinfecting common home surfaces and she went one step further to offer some of her tips on video. For example, were you aware that you should clean before you disinfect?

You can check it out below.

For more specifics, head over to the federal government website which also offers some helpful tips. The Government of Canada recommends cleaning commonly touched areas such as door knobs, handrails, elevator buttons and countertops. Although the virus can potentially live on these surfaces for days, it’s noted that common cleaning products are effective against COVID-19.

Cleaning and disinfecting are important steps to kill the virus, and it’s important to wash reusable cleaning materials in hot water with laundry soap and toss disposable items in a lined garbage bin.

That’s why it was an obvious decision to study journalism at Durham College, where she enjoyed being an editor for the student newspaper, The Chronicle. She has since travelled across Canada, living in small towns in the Rockies, the Coast Mountains, and tried out the big city experience. She is passionate about sustainability, mental health, and the arts. When she’s not reporting, she’s likely holed up with a good book and her cat Ace.
