NDP endorses new candidate
PENTICTON – The new NDP candidate in the Central Okanagan Similkameen Nicola riding believes everyone’s vote counts.
Hedley resident Angelique Wood received a unanimous endorsement from the New Democratic Party on Jan. 17.
Wood is a former Director for the Regional District Okanagan Similkameen, serving one term as Area “G” representative. She is an Emily Carr University graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and spent some time on the coast working at the Inuit Gallery of Vancouver and the UBC’s Museum of Anthropology prior to relocating to Hedley.
Speaking of the party’s priorities during a meeting of the NDP party faithful in Summerland, Wood said the NDP planned to raise the federal minimum wage, retain universal medicare, create national childcare and begin a national Pharmacare program.
“My earliest memories of political campaigns date back to door-knocking for Ed Broadbent in the late 1970s. It was then that I began to understand that every vote counts and we can all work to make a difference,” she said.

I wish they would call themselves ” THE NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY”…INSTEAD OF THE ABBREVIATION…It would sound NEW…and exciting…and contemporary!
