Summerland RCMP catch 14 speeding drivers during crackdown
Summerland RCMP officers were busy this past weekend catching speeding drivers.
Officers did speeding and driver checks on Highway 97 around Trout Creek and Jones Flats, according to an RCMP media release, handing out 14 speeding tickets on April 12 and 13.
A driver caught in Trout Creek had their vehicle impounded for going 125 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, RCMP said, while another driver received a 24-hour driving prohibition for alcohol.
“A sunny weekend can be a tempting reason for drivers to put the pedal to the metal, causing unsafe conditions for other drivers, cyclists and pedestrians,” RCMP said in the release.

“As the weather warms, our roads and highways get busier and police would like to remind drivers to slow down, drive to the conditions and follow all speed signs. We want everyone to get to their destinations safely.”
Impaired driving and speeding are the two biggest factors in fatal collisions, RCMP said.
