Vernon dad lets his kids cut his hair and launches ‘COVID Cut Challenge’

A Vernon dad in need of a hair cut allowed his kids to cut his hair and is now encouraging others to follow suit in what he's named the "COVID Cut Challenge".

"I took the opportunity and gave my kids some scissors," Jason Bongalis said. "There's no magic to it… it's a fun thing to do."

Jason is now challenging other fathers to do the same thing and keep their new hairstyle for three days. He announced the "COVID Cut Challenge" on the Vernon & Area Community Forum Facebook page to much applause and saw a few dads take it on.

Armed with big craft scissors, Jason's two kids, Amelia, 8, and Beckham, 10, starting snipping.

"My son started on one side of my head and just went up and over like he was cutting wrapping paper," Jason said. "I warned them before they started, 'just to let you know guys, watch what you're doing, my ears are there, don't go cutting me."

Jason said he kids loved every minute of it, and it's something they'll never forget.

"My hair was an absolute massacre, it was terrible," Jason told iNFOnews.ca.

Nonetheless, Jason kept his new style for three days.

After three days Jason said he did is best to fix it with a pair of clippers but says his hair is "pretty mangled."

For other parents out there Jason recommends using sharp scissors – dull scissors will pull your hair too much – outside of that, he says parents know how much trust they should put in their children.
