RCMP close Trans-Canada in Kamloops for false shots fired complaint

The Trans-Canada Highway in Kamloops was closed to traffic this afternoon as RCMP investigated a complaint about shots fired.

RCMP say Highway 1 at Oriole Road near the Lamplighter Hotel was closed in both directions today, April 7, out of "an abundance of caution" while officers looked into a shots fired complaint which turned out to be false.

The highway has since reopened.

Kamloops RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jodi Shelkie thanked drivers in a media release for their cooperation while the matter was investigated.
