iN PHOTOS: Kamloops, Okanagan locals share how they’re staying busy during long weekend

Kamloops and Okanagan residents are staying optimistic as they garden, hike and enjoy the sunshine during this long weekend.

Provincial health officer Bonnie Henry said Saturday it's OK to enjoy to step outside and get some fresh air, but asks that residents avoid non-essential travel.

Three new Interior Heath COVID-19 cases were reported April 11, Henry said. She gave her regular live-streamed press conference Saturday, April 11.

With 35 new cases in B.C. the total number of cases has reached 1,445. Henry said 905 people have recovered. There have been three new deaths in the province.

“We have been providing messages for the need to stay home. This is not the time to go travelling,” she said. “I sincerely hope that most people have avoided any unnecessary travel.”

By staying home, it avoids unnecessary strain on small communities, she said.
