Kelowna Rockets hammer Silvertips

KELOWNA – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Everett Silvertips 9-3 on Saturday night at Prospera Place, sweeping a weekend double-header between the top two teams in the WHL Western Conference.

Tyrell Goulbourne had two goals and three assists to lead the Rockets offense, as Kelowna improved to a WHL-best 36-8-3-0 on the season.

Nick Merkley had two goals and one assist, Cole Linaker had a goal and an assist and Rourke Chartier scored his 40th goal of the season in his 40th game. Madison Bowey, Josh Morrissey and Leon Draisaitl also scored for the
Rockets.

Cole Martin added two assists.

Jackson Whistle earned the win in net, his 28th of the season, as Kelowna outshot Everett 33-17 in the game.

The Rockets are now off on a four game road trip this coming week that will see them play four games in five nights.

Kelowna plays Tuesday in Red Deer and Wednesday in Edmonton before continuing next Friday in Lethbridge and Saturday in Kootenay.

Kelowna's next home game is Feb. 6 when they host the Kamloops Blazers at Prospera Place.
