iN VIDEO: Opera singer serenades Vernon seniors from parking lot
Vernon residents living around the area of the Columbus Court apartment complex received a musical surprise late Sunday afternoon as an opera singer stopped by to serenade them.
On Sunday, April 19, Armstrong resident Jay Laflamme stood in the parking lot and sang several songs to the apartment block's residents.
Vernon resident Dawn Tucker heard the singing from her nearby home and headed into her yard to film the experience.
"It was very beautiful," Tucker said. "It was a neat experience."
Tucker posted the video to Facebook and through friends discovered the soloist was Jay Laflamme who is part of the Opera Kelowna chorus.
Tucker said Laflamme even took a request and sang Ave Marie after someone shouted down from their balcony.
"It's quite a beautiful thing to have her come here," she said.
