Okanagan Falls man with lengthy criminal record back in court

PENTICTON — An Okanagan Falls man with a long history of offences makes a return appearance in Penticton court today with two new charges.

Ronald Arthur Teneycke was charged three days ago with one count of making or possessing explosives and one count of firearms possession.

Teneycke’s sister, Linda Walker told reporters today’s court appearance is related to an incident that occurred in March, 2014.

According to Walker, Teneycke picked up a bomb from the Daoust brothers in Oliver. She said Teneycke took the device from them in the interests of public safety.

“They were making it, showed it to him, so he took it. Ronald didn’t know what to do with it, so he gave it to me. I buried it in the front yard, and told the police," Walker said. A police bomb squad from Vancouver removed the bomb on March 14, 2014. She said it looked like a “glorified firecracker” and at one time she carried it in her purse.

“The police are trying to make like he made it,” she said.

She said Teneycke met the Daoust brothers while in the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre.

Teneyke’s criminal record spans at least two decades. According to the Penticton Western News, he spent 12 years in federal prison for sex assault with a weapon against a 17 year old female in 1993. He was found not guilty in 2012 of another serious allegation of sexual assault.

More recently, he served six months for breach of probation and drug possession in 2013. He was also charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from a peace officer and breach of probation in March 2014. His sister alleged at that time that police were harassing her brother.

oh I’m sure, with his track record, he is dangerous to everyone, and should be locked away forever, he has had many chances to turn his life around.

  3. HE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A DANGEROUS OFFENDER AND PUT AWAY FOREVER!

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
