California man on the run in Canada busted in Ashcroft

Ashcroft RCMP have arrested a 29-year-old Fresno, California man who snuck into the country and is wanted in various jurisdictions in the U.S.

On April 28 just before 9:30 a.m., the American man was arrested in connection to a report of a break and enter in progress to a commercial building located along Cornwall Road in Ashcroft B.C., according to an RCMP media release. RCMP do not identify the man.

Police also believe the suspect was involved with a stolen motor vehicle recovered in the Ashcroft area on April 26. A white Mini Cooper had been reported stolen from Vancouver earlier in the day and later been left abandoned at a gas station in the village.

Police believe the man had illegally crossed the border and was wanted for several crimes throughout Canada and the U.S.

RCMP are working with the Canada Border Services Agency officials, who have issued a detention order for the man. Efforts are underway to return hime to the United States.
