Water quality notification for Black Mountain Irrigation District

The Black Mountain Irrigation District (BMID) is advising all customers in our service area of a temporary change in water quality. BMID has scheduled some major infrastructure works at the district’s intake. BMID will be shutting off the main supply of water and will be utilizing water from the BMID groundwater wells and from the Rutland Waterworks District (RWD) wells. It is expected that the change in water source will be from January 28th through to February 25th, 2015, at which time BMID will restore the water supply to Mission Creek.

All water quality will continue to meet the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality and requirements of Interior Health.

Customers may notice that the water may contain a higher level of minerals. Some customers may notice some turbidity and sediment in their water while the changeover in water supply is being activated; however this condition is temporary and should clear up very quickly. If your water appears cloudy, residents are advised to run their cold water taps for several minutes until the water runs clear.
