Home Depot in Kamloops closed indefinitely due to ground movement

The Home Depot in Kamloops is closed for the foreseeable future due to ground movement near the store.

The entrance to the store was barricaded with lumber pallets today, May 12. One of the signs on the barricade said structural engineers are making an assessment of the area. 

Kamloops Fire Rescue assistant chief Steve Robinson said the department has not been asked to respond, but it has spoken with management at the store. He said staff cleared the store and experts are at the scene to make an assessment.

Company spokeperson Paul Berto said that closure of the store is proactive, based on "possible ground movement in the surrounding area."

Berto said it's too soon to speculate when the store might reopen.

A sign outside the location said customers can continue to purchase items at the Home Depot website.
