KELOWNA – There are no nets, boards or referees, but that didn’t stop a group of hockey fans from spending Hockey Day engaged in a backyard-style game at Rhonda Lake in Big White Saturday.
The rink is touted as being the highest in Canada and sits at an elevation of 5,000 feet.
A video posted to the Big White Facebook page shows a time-lapse of how the lake went from a frozen source of drinking water to a skateable rink.
“Whether or not it’s the highest elevation today in Hockey Day in Canada I don’t know,” says an out-of-breath player. “It feels like it.”
