Ghostbusters fans unite: Starlight Drive-In honours 35th anniversary with special showing

The popular Enderby drive-in theatre has updated its list of movie showings and will be honouring the 35th anniversary of Ghostbusters with a special movie night.

The drive-in is currently limited to 50 vehicles, and tickets must be purchased online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry issued an order last week limiting the number of vehicles at drive-in theatres. The drive-in theatre previously had a 100 car limit, but that’s since been slashed in half.

Customers are required to spend the entire night in their vehicles, aside from visiting the washroom or concession, according to the theatre’s website.

From June 4 to June 6, JUMANJI will play starting at 9:15 p.m. followed by Bad Boys for Life at 11:30 p.m. On June 7, Bad Boys for Life will play at 9:15 p.m. followed by Fantasy Island at 11:30 p.m.

In celebration of Ghostbusters Day on June 8, the theatre will show the original film along with a special intro for both time slots at 9:15 and 11:30 p.m.

Brian Smith, owner and operator of the drive-in, said the Starlight team is "thrilled" to be able to run the concession again, and the theatre is limiting it to one person from each vehicle at a time in the building, he said.
