$7.5 million to be asked at April referendum

In just a few months, voters will say yay or nay to borrowing $7.5 million for a sports facility at Okanagan College. The Regional District of North Okanagan believes the complex is a valuable candidate for the investment, as it will open up opportunities to host athletic events like the B.C. Summer Games, which can bring in $2 million in revenue. The facility would also be available for community use.

The $7.5 million would be repaid over a period of 20 years. For the average residential property, it would mean $15 a year. Click here to calculate the exact cost for your household

General voting will take place April 6 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Vernon Recreation Centre, Coldstream Elementary, and BX Elementary. Advance voting days are March 27 and April 3 at the Schubert Centre, Coldstream Municipal Hall, or the RDNO office.

RDNO will be holding an information session at the Village Green Mall March 2, 3, 23, and 24. Information will also be mailed out to every Vernon household.
