UPDATE: Morning blaze in Penticton
A building firefighters say was used as a squatter's shack went up in flames Tuesday morning.
Penticton firefighters were called to a garage fire behind Fairview Grocery at the corner of Fairview Road and Calgary Avenue June 9, around 8:10 a.m.
Penticton Fire Chief Larry Watkinson says two engines made an aggressive attack by firefighters quickly knocked down the flames.
No injuries were reported. Firefighters are in the mop-up stage at this point, Watkinson says.
He says according to RCMP the building was used as a squatter’s shack.
It’s not known if anyone was residing in the building when the fire broke out.
