Person taken to hospital after crashing into Valleyview front yard

One person was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after an early-morning crash in a Valleyview.

The single-vehicle accident occurred at 6 a.m. in a residential Kamloops neighbourhood.

According to a media release form the Kamloops RCMP, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was travelling west and then turned left, subsequently hitting some hedges and a tree in the front yard of a home on the 2200 block of Flamingo Road.

The release says a tire on the vehicle briefly caught on fire but as extinguished by Kamloops Fire Rescue.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
