iN NUMBERS: It’s a wrap. Ski season is over in Okanagan, Kamloops

Ski season is over in Kamloops and the Okanagan and hopefully you didn’t break anything this year.

Now it’s time to reminisce about the bluebird powder days and hot chocolates.

Here are the numbers:

  • 5.4 million: Chairlift rides at Big White Ski Resort, that’s one person taking one trip up the lift.
  • 2: Ski patrol incidents per more than 1,000 skier visits to Big White.
  • 9,600: Skiers at Big White on its busiest day.
  • 47,000: Pounds of french fries sold at Big White.
  • 400: Kilograms of explosives used to move snow and prevent avalanches at Big White.
  • 9,100: Hand and toe warmers sold at Big White.
  • 120: Days in the Apex Mountain Resort season.
  • 134: Days in the SilverStar Mountain resort season.
  • 141: Days in the Sun Peaks Resort season.
  • 500: Centimetres of snowfall on average at Apex.
  • 747: Big White staff.
  • 600,000: Visitors to Big White.
  • 2.5 million: Cubic feet of foam at the Sun Peaks 5K Foam Fest on June 7, 2025. Not exactly a ski season number but foam is fun.

Thanks so much to the awesome team at Big White Resort for answering our weird questions.
