Kelowna driver stopped Monday blew three times the limit: Police

A driver who was reportedly driving erratically during Monday morning rush-hour traffic blew three times the legal blood alcohol limit when police finally got him off the road, police say.

Kelowna RCMP received a report June 15 just before 9 a.m. of a blue Dodge Ram driving erratically on Highway 97 South.

"An officer located the vehicle on Buckland Avenue and performed a traffic stop," Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in a press release. "While dealing with the driver the officer noted signs of alcohol consumption. The breath demand was read and the man was taken back to the detachment for a breath test."

He provided two breath samples, both of which were more than three times the legal limit, she said.

The 24-year-old Kelowna man was released from custody for a future court date. The vehicle was impounded.

Crown prosecutors are considering possible charges.
