Former Downtown Penticton Association director charged with fraud

A former Downtown Penticton Association executive director is facing fraud charges, nearly four years after allegations were first made.

The B.C. Prosecution Service approved charges of fraud over $5,000 and falsifying documents on June 11 against former director Kerrilynn Milton, according to an RCMP media release.

Penticton RCMP began a fraud investigation following a report to police by a newly appointed executive director of the organization in November, 2016. This week, Milton was arrested and subsequently released on a number of conditions. RCMP do not say what those conditions are.

She is scheduled to make her first court appearance in Penticton on July 15.

Milton went on to serve as executive director on the Downtown Victoria Business Association but parted ways in November, 2017, according to a Penticton Herald report. She was a recipient of the Penticton & Wine Country’s Top 40 Under 40, while in Penticton and was also active with the Summerland Montessori School.

Milton spearheaded the PenMar Society in an unsuccessful attempt to restore the old movie theatre in the city.

As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
