14 new COVID-19 cases in B.C., one death

There were 14 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. over the last 24 hours and one more death.

A joint statement from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix today, June 24, says there are now 2,849 B.C. residents who have tested positive but that 2,516 have fully recovered.

A total of 171 people have now died. There are 162 active cases with 14 in hospital, half of whom are in intensive care.

There were no new cases recorded overnight in the Interior Health region which has recorded 199 cases.

Dr. Henry and Premier John Horgan announced today that Phase 3 of the B.C. recovery plan is underway, which encourages more travel within B.C.

“No matter where we may be this summer, remember that COVID-19 is still with us,” Dr. Henry says in the release. “So let's make sure we travel respectfully, by using our travel manners, planning ahead, being prepared and maintaining safe social interactions."
