LAKE COUNTRY – A routine traffic stop for expired insurance has landed a 30-year-old Lake Country man in hot water.
Around 10:40 a.m. on Friday, police pulled over a pick-up truck at Camp and Davidson Road. The truck’s insurance had expired.
RCMP say the officer noticed that the pick-up’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) didn’t match the registration papers handed over by the driver.
It turns out the truck has been reported stolen from Williams Lake 4 years ago in 2009.
Both the driver and his 26-year-old passenger were arrested.
According to police, the driver is facing a charge of possession of stolen property. He also was driving without a drivers license, so he’s been fined for that.
He was released on a promise to appear in Kelowna court on Mar. 31, 2014.
The passenger was released with no charges.
