German Shepherd rescued after trapped by river near Summerland

A German Shepherd is in good spirits after being rescued from Trout Creek canyon near Summerland.

On June 30th several calls were made to the RCMP regarding the dog being trapped in the canyon due to high and fast waters, according to the RCMP in a news release. The dog was located below the KVR Trestle in Summerland and had made his way onto a rock ledge.

The dog was in the creek for an extended period of time, and Penticton Search and Rescue crews were able to assist with the rescue, according to the release. BC Ambulance crews and Summerland fire fighters were also on scene, according to the release.

"A SAR member made their way down by rope to the anxious dog who was harnessed and returned up the cliff to safety and his very happy family," according to the release. No injuries were reported.
