Multi-vehicle collision near Osoyoos sends Penticton woman to hospital

A collision involving three vehicles on Highway 97 near Osoyoos late last week sent one of the drivers to hospital.

Osoyoos RCMP responded to the crash in the 10400 block of Highway 97 at around 3:50 p.m. on Friday, July 3, according to an RCMP media release.

A 38-year-old woman from Penticton driving a GMC dump truck towing a dump trailer was northbound when she failed to see a line of stopped traffic, RCMP say.

The woman rear ended a Jeep Wrangler, causing it to rollover across the highway and into a southbound Ford F-150 pickup which was towing an RV trailer. The Ford pickup then struck a telephone pole.

RCMP say the 18-year-old Jeep driver, a Penticton woman, received minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

The 32-year-old man driving the pickup and 53-year-old woman passenger, who are both from Osoyoos, weren't hurt.

The dump truck driver, who wasn't hurt, was issued a ticket, police said.

All three vehicles and the RV trailer received significant damage.
