Injured man airlifted from Mount Paul in Kamloops

A man was taken to hospital yesterday after being airlifted from Mount Paul in Kamloops.

A representative from Kamloops Search and Rescue says team members were ready to assist in the rescue yesterday, July 9, but stood down when an air ambulance was made available.

“The information we received was that there was an individual who had a fall,” Alan Hobbler with search and rescue says. “We had six members that responded, we had a helicopter lined up as well but at the end of the day B.C. Ambulance was able to get their air ambulance up there.”

Shannon Miller with B.C. Emergency Health Services says a call about the injured hiker came in shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday.

“Local ground crews were dispatched to the area, and fire first responders were notified and responded,” Miller says in an emailed statement to iNFOnews.ca. “Our air ambulance helicopter based in Kamloops was called in and transported the patient in stable condition to hospital.”

The current condition of the man is unknown.
