Kelowna man charged in connection with vehicle thefts
A Kelowna man has been charged in relation to vehicle thefts that occurred in Kelowna over the past month.
On June 18, Kelowna RCMP officers received a report of a stolen Acura Integra from the 700 block of Saucier Avenue in Kelowna, according to an RCMP media release. Officers later located the vehicle in Peachland.
On the morning of July 7, police officers were notified a white Honda Civic had been stolen overnight from the 700 block of Yorkville Street. The stolen vehicle was later seen on Rutland Road South July 9, and with the assistance of a helicopter, officers monitored the suspect vehicle, which was seen being driven in a dangerous manner in the Pooley Road area.
It was then found abandoned in an orchard. RCMP officers found 21-year-old Lenny Lipscombe in the area, who was taken into custody.
Lipscombe has been charged in both instances with possession of stolen property under $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and breach of court orders. He remains in custody and is expected to appear in court, July 30.
