Crews get handle on wildfire burning west of Merritt

The Skuhun Creek wildfire west of Merritt and along Highway 8 is now classified as being held.

There are 40 firefighters working the 28-hectare blaze today, July 22, which is in steep and rocky terrain.

No structures are at risk.

The blaze was reported July 20.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause, according to B.C. Wildfire Service fire information officer Madison Smith.
