Sun Peaks Resort staff member tests positive for COVID-19

Sun Peaks Resort has a confirmed case of COVID-19 with one of their staff members.

According to a release from the resort, the staff member works in a non-guest facing role and contracted the disease in ‘recent days.’ It is not clear exactly when or which role they work in.

“Sun Peaks will continue to be a leader for resort destinations with our robust policies, procedures, and capacity limits to help ensure staff, guests, and community safety,” the release reads. “We look forward to seeing everyone continuing to responsibly enjoy the mountain trails and golf course for the remainder of the season.”

The release states that Sun Peaks has been relatively untouched by COVID-19, although a doctor in the town contracted the disease in late March. It is not clear how many residents have been affected by the virus.

According to the release, the resort has been in contact with Interior Health and says safety protocols have been enhanced in a number of areas to ensure safety. The resort will use contact tracing measures, will monitor the situation on a daily basis and follow their health and safety plans.
