Crews fighting wildfire burning west of Merritt

No structures are threatened by an out of control wildfire burning between Merritt and Spences Bridge.

B.C. Wildfire Service fire information officer Madison Smith says crews are working on the 2.1 hectare fire today, Aug. 6, which is out of control.

A helicopter bucketed the Skuhost Creek wildfire earlier in the day and 20 firefighters are on the ground working the blaze.

Smith is not certain when the report of the wildfire came in, although it was added to the B.C. Wildfire Services interactive map yesterday, Aug. 5.

No structures are at risk and the cause of the fire is unknown.
