New ride-hailing company coming to Kamloops, Okanagan
A new ride-hailing company will be making its debut in Kamloops and the Okanagan.
The Vancouver-based company, ReRyde, will launch its service in Kelowna first with about 30 drivers before expanding to Kamloops, Vernon and Penticton.
Its application was approved by the Passenger Transportation Board on Aug. 12, 2020.
According to the application, ReRyde has been operating in Manitoba since June 2018 with 700 approved drivers and has since expanded to additional cities in Ontario. The company is also now approved to expand in Victoria, Nanaimo, Campbell River and Prince George.
Customers will be able to summon a driver using the ReRyde app and customize the ride based on their needs, such as luggage or car seat friendly.
The app will also provide an estimated time of arrival based on the location of the client's cellphone.
ReRyde joins another new ride hailing company in the area, Kabu Ride, which launched in Kamloops and Kelowna this summer. A third company, Luck To Go, has also said it's close to starting operations in Kelowna.
