Mounties need information that may help with Enderby homicide investigation
The investigation into the homicide of a 46-year-old Enderby man has been taken over by the RCMP's Major Crime Unit, and they're asking for witnesses to come forward and help establish a timeline for the victim's last hours.
North Okanagan Rural RCMP was notified by hospital officials shortly before 5 p.m. Aug. 11, that a man, now identified as Dana Andrew Prevost, was in critical condition after being transported to hospital for medical care earlier that morning from a property along George Street in Enderby.
Due to the nature and extent of Prevost's injuries, the North Okanagan Rural RCMP General Investigation Section engaged the Southeast District Major Crime Unit to assist in the developing investigation, Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey said in a press release.
A location in Enderby was secured by police and forensic specialists with the Integrated Forensic Identification Section, were brought in to conduct a full examination of the crime scene. General Investigation Section and major crime investigators canvassed area residents for any information.
Shortly before midnight, Aug. 14, Prevost succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
"As such, the B.C. RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the homicide investigation, which is believed to be an isolated event," O'Donaghey said in the release.
In order to further the investigation and establish a timeline prior to his death, O'Donaghey said police released Prevost's identity.
The B.C. Coroners Service has also been notified and has launched an independent concurrent investigation into the man’s sudden death.
Anyone with any additional information is asked to contact the RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit at 1-877-987-8477. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
