Kelowna Rockets down Blazers at home

KELOWNA – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 5-3 on Friday night at Prospera Place, winning the first game of a weekend double-header between the two teams.

Five different Rockets scored while Jackson Whistle earned the win in net as the Rockets improved to 40-8-3-1 on the season.

The Rockets led 1-0 after the first period and 4-2 through two periods of play, before Kamloops got within a goal midway through the third.

Rourke Chartier scored his 42nd goal of the season and added an assist to lead the Rockets offense, while Tyson Baillie scored his 31st of the season, also adding an assist.

Devante Stephens and Cole Linaker also scored for the Rockets.

The Rockets and Blazers will meet again on Saturday night in Kamloops in the back half of the home and home series between the two teams.

Kelowna is back home on Monday for a special 2 p.m. start on the B.C. Family Day holiday, hosting the Prince George Cougars.
